NamaSlay,
I hope all is well.
October: Beauty, Fashion/Accessory, Wellness and Health
Can you believe we’re months away from 2025? Trust me, I am not trying
to rush the journey. However, we have some things to get ready for. For one, the Presidential Election is 32 days away. I need not say how important this election is. What I will say, to my two-year-old Glam daughter - Jireh, Glam Ma’s vote was with you in mind. There’s the countdown to daylight-saving time. Talk about an energy shift. And to top it off, we must begin the mental prep for the Holiday seasons. So, I decided to keep this month’s newsletter brief, yet beneficial. I’m sharing some of my favorite things in beauty, fashion/accessory, wellness and a personal health tip.
October Beauty
Since I can remember, I’ve had a skincare regimen. Acne was a real issue for me, especially in my 20’s. I can’t tell you the time and money I spent on products. The struggle was real. I went to Dermatologists with the belief that a prescribed “Benzoyl Peroxide” would be better than an over the counter “Benzoyl Peroxide”. And it wasn’t, its all the same. Today, at 54 my skin has never looked or felt better. Most recently, I've added Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 to my skin care routine and I’m loving the results.
The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. Added ceramides provide moisture retention and a healthier skin barrier, delivering all-day hydration and improving the appearance of fine dry lines and wrinkles.
October Fashion / Accessory
Last month’s newsletter was all about the Top Ten Fall 2024 Trends. I highlighted everything from Accessories, Sculptured Metals to Refined Knits and let’s not forget - all hail the Queen…Kitten Heels. Yes, Kitten Heels!
This month, the only fashion/accessory I want to talk about is the Empire Coach Carry All. You guys know I am a BB Gal: Bag and Blazer. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I made room on my purse wall for her. The craftsmanship and leather, slightly Ombre with a quiet luxury feel entitles this bag to be Fall’s favorite.
Coach - A vintage-inspired silhouette, our Empire Carryall is designed with a New York state of mind—and attitude. Crafted of natural grain leather with beautiful texture and soft feel, the generously sized 40 is great for everyday featuring a roomy open compartment with space for 13” laptop and a snap pocket to hold essentials.

October Wellness
I made a vow to get back to the mental and spiritual wellness of me. I’ve been mediating, journaling and tracking my daily habits as a way to embrace the newness of me. I started a new practice, listening to Podcasts: Deeply Well with Devi Brown was the perfect intro.
Devi Brown is an Educator, Multidisciplinary Healer, Creative Advisor and Author.
Her voice is soothing, topics poignant and she shares personal experiences of her wellness journey. I warn you, do not listen to her Podcast without pen and paper handy. I promise, you’ll thank me later.
October Health
In August, while visiting my primary care physician, I mentioned seeing black shooting dots in my left eye. He asked if I'd ever seen an Ophthalmologist. I told him, I see my eye doctor. annually. He explained an Optometrist is not an Ophthalmologist. The best way to understand the difference is an Optometrist diagnosis's our vision for prescriptions where as an Ophthalmologist studies the overall wellness of our eyes. My primary care physician gave me a referral and said, “I recommend all my patients over 50 to see an Ophthalmologist.
A few days later, I met with the Ophthalmologist only to discover my Retina was detached. Unbeknownst to me, this is common for those who are severely near-sighted and over 50. The very next day, I was scheduled for surgery. The 45 minute surgery was a success! However, the 8 week recovery time would be the journey.
After surgery, I spent the first 48 hours laying face down. For 10 days, I could only sleep on my right side with a plastic patch taped over my eye. Every day, four times a day, I had to administer two drops of antibiotics and steroids in my eye. And, yes there was pain. Not to mention, no driving for eight weeks.
Today, my eye is better! The GRACE goes without saying. What I want to share, if your vision is impaired in any way and your over 50 - make an appointment to see an Ophthalmologist. My journey does not have to be yours.

October Birthday's
Gary, aka Harpo
Happy Heavenly Birthday!
We lived, learned, laughed, loved and lost together. The way you loved was unconditional, and the way you lived was unapologetic. I miss you in this journey.
With all my love, Suge.

October
I kept this month’s newsletter brief, yet helpful. We all have so much in front us. As October unfolds, were holding a space for the following: Presidential Election, the rising cost of everything, preparing for the holidays and trying our best to stay mentally well.
With that, I wish you all so much this month!
Be Well,
Sherese.
